The room was a really good size, with a nice view of the cricket pitch.
The shower was a 'mixer over the bath' affair, not particularly powerful and it took several minutes to adjust the taps to get a comfortable temperature.
I liked the friendlyness of the staff
Its not so much of what I didnt like more of what I think could be improved. I think there should be an iron and ironing board in the room, some more little bits in the room like little toothpaste we forgot ours! Maybe a mini bar. The lounge area needs to be a bit more lively we would have sat and drank in the bar but it was too quiet some more music needed, snooker table could have been free.
I liked this hotel and would stay again. The rooms were chalet style, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was fine and there was a nice bar with tvs. During the weekend that we stayed at the Tolgate, there were numerous exercise activities including zumba. On the Monday there were ballroom dancing lessons. Although there was no swimming pool, there was gym with a large number of exercise machines and two squash courts. If you are an exercise/gym person you would not be disapointed.
Hotel was excellent for our stay. Close to Stoke City FC and at a very competitive rate. Hotel rooms were comfortable and clean and the restaurant and bar were very affordable and enjoyable. Also had a gym but didn't get chance to try it out. Cricket pitch outside room which would be nice on a summer Sunday morning!
i liked the room it was comfortable and very clean, as i work in a hotel i can be critical about other hotels but found very little to complain about which is fantastic. the only thing i could comment on was the toilet being a bit tempremental to flush but it didn't ruin my stay
one thing i didn't like was it said in the customer book that we could ask for a later check out time which would have been great we only wanted half hour extra as we had to wait for family that weren't staying with you, but got point blankly refused by the receptionist and on my checkout was not asked if i'd had a pleasent stay she just took my money and said goodbye...maybe a bit of customer service training for that perticular member of staff but all other staff were polite and helpful
Location was good, quiet spot yet close to all amenities and useful for visiting Keele University. The Management and staff were very welcoming and helpful, restaurant food good price and plentiful, rooms comfortable. Would recommend.
Location good for visiting the Trentham Estate. Room was clean and well equipped. Reception staff friendly and helpful.
Only one easy chair in the room (2 would be better) Pillows weren't the best Shower screen would be better than the curtain available (I soaked the floor)
I was very impressed, from arriving at the hotel, to checking out. The member of staff that greeted me was very pleasant and answered all the questions I needed to know in the introduction. Room was very well presented and very clean.
Very friendly staff. The room was very clean. Had a good shower, tea/coffee facilities and a good tv. We stayed for a day trip to Alton Towers and it was perfect for this. Nice breakfast, and cool sports bar.
The hotel was situated in a good location for were we intended to visit, it was different for the rooms to be independant from the main hotel.
This hotel is is dire need of refurbishment, particularly the rooms, which are outside the main building in a separate block. We stayed for two nights and the room was not made up during that time, despite our requests for it to be done. No friendly welcome and it is impossible to ge an outside line on the telephone in the room, we would not stay there again hntil improvements are Made,
Breakfast good but extra if you wanted hot
Friendly staff, good service, clean
With the continental breakfast we were expecting sliced meat and cheeses as we have experienced in other establishments. Bath was not wide enough shower curtain kept sticking to you as you showered. Could not switch the heated towel rail on. This would have been an issue if we were staying more than one evening.
good location and easy to locate
breakfast was lacking in information what was available. i.e. wether you want continental or full english.
We could not get the shower to work as it was fed through the bath system. Unusual wire showing from the television, not sure if it was dangerous or not
Our room overlooked the cricket ground next door, where we spent a very pleasant few hours watching the game as the sun went down. We then strolled back to the Tollgate where we ate our evening meal, the hours in the restaurant are very flexible and the prices are very reasonable. Our room was comfortable, clean, and most importanlty quiete, free from traffic noise. The hotel is in a good location for the tourist hot spots of Stoke on Trent. It is literally just a few minutes by car from the Gladstone Pottery Museum which is well worth a visit. This hotel is ideal for all kinds of visitors, families, couples, tourists, city breaks. The hotel has very good leisure facilities - if you want a work out or want a game of squash its available. Breakfast was fine, plenty of choice. They do a good poached egg! I would stop here again without hesitation. Good value for money. Better to stop here than in the city centre.
